Physical Education here at Westhaven Elementary School is a diverse program based around physical literacy, skill development and sportsmanship. The goal of this program is to not only build students' abilities, but also introduce them to a wide variety of activities both individually and group based, in the hope that each student finds something they enjoy. With this goal of lifelong physical activity, students are taught the importance of a healthy lifestyle and daily physical activity, which is something they can bring with them into middle school, high school and beyond.
The skills students learn in this athletic setting are more than just physical. With activities that challenge students cognitively, they also develop personal emotional regulation, confidence, as well as the ability to work in a team.
