School Council

School Council and Parent Volunteers

The École Westhaven School Council is a fun group of volunteer parents who meet once a month from September to June. They work closely with the School and Community to organize and provide various programs and exciting events for students and families throughout the school year.

The School Council coordinates snack and hot lunch programs, and playground maintenance, helps subsidize field trips and provides agendas for all students. We organize fundraisers such as Dieleman Fundraising and Gingerbread House and Gift Raffle at the Christmas Concert to help with these various programs and costs. There are a variety of events the School Council hosts for the students and parents, such as Meet the Teacher, a Halloween Dance, Movie Night with Santa, Bonhomme Carnival Pancake Breakfast and a Pizza Day. The School Council relies on the volunteer efforts of its members as well as all of the wonderful families of our students to make these events and programs a great success.

The  École Westhaven School Council would like to welcome any and all Parents to our monthly meetings. School council meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7 pm in the school library. Please email  whpc@gypsd.ca for the meeting link.

School Council elections are held in June for the next year; please feel free to join us in an executive capacity by attending this meeting. If you have any questions regarding anything the School Council does, you can email us at whpc@gypsd.ca

A school council is a means for parents and community members to work together with the principal and the school to support and enhance student learning. Anyone (parent, guardian, grandparent, etc) who attends council meetings will be considered a part of the school council and will have a vote in decisions.
